Ciao, I’m Giovanna, the founder of Italian Layers! I was born and raised in the Venetian countryside — the very heart of tiramisù’s origins — where tiramisù isn’t just dessert, it’s a way of life! Growing up, I was ever so often in the kitchen, experimenting with sweets, baking for my family, and soaking in the belief that food is the purest form of love. In my Italian home, sharing a meal wasn’t just about eating — it was how we showed care, appreciation, and joy.
Moving to Sweden was a big change, first for my career in Architecture, then for love. But life had other plans for me. When I struggled to find opportunities in my field, I naturally gravitated toward something that had always been a part of me — food!
Working in Stockholm’s restaurant scene deepened my passion for sharing Italian flavours, and it made me realise something: the tiramisù I had been making casually for friends and family wasn’t just “good”— it was special. Again and again, I heard: “This is the best tiramisù I’ve ever had.”, then someone said, “Giovanna, I would buy this in a heartbeat!”. That’s when I knew it was time to bring my tiramisù to every foodie in Stockholm!
This is how Italian Layers started in a cold day of January 2025, my mission is to make Italian Layers the go-to name for tiramisù in Stockholm. When people crave the real, authentic flavour of Italy, I want them to immediately think of me. I want to set the standard for what authentic Italian tiramisù should taste like — creamy, handmade, and unforgettable. Through every spoonful, I bring the original Venetian tradition to the table — made by hand, with love, and without compromise. My concept is not just to serve a dessert, but to share a piece of my heritage, Italian culture, and to make tiramisù a little ritual of joy in everyday Swedish life.
What makes my tiramisù unique? A perfect balance of tradition and a modern Scandinavian twist — creamy mascarpone, rich espresso-soaked savoiardi layers, and a delicate surprise: small bites of chocolate that enhance every flavour and add a touch of texture.
